| ABOUT AEROSTRIKE® AEROBIC SELF-DEFENCE |
AEROSTRIKE® AEROBIC SELF-DEFENCE was created by Stavros Saristavros in 1998 with the aim of teaching males and females a new concept of self-defence in the aerobics studios. Aerostrike® is the combination of aerobics and various strikes executed in the martial arts. 'Aero' stems from the aerobic component and 'strike' from the ancient arts of self-defence, hence Aerostrike®. Aerostrike® provides genuinely useful self-protection skills in combination with an aerobic workout. Aerostrike® speaks of the values of hard work to achieve one's goals and the self-esteem that comes with it. It builds strength and confidence in students while focusing on a cardio workout. Aerostrike® embodies the beneficial key elements from the martial arts which are great for training sustained mental focus, increasing flexibility, better coordination and all-round strength. |

AEROSTRIKE® AEROBIC SELF-DEFENCE in its simplest form, is a 45-60 minute pre-choreographed, non-contact group workout, following the beats of the latest in popular music. The martial arts component focuses on punches, kicks and a variety of strikes, which can be executed with any part of the body; eg. with an elbow, the palm, or with the foot. Aerostrike® is an exceptional way to tone upper body, torso and legs to peak condition, while increasing arm and leg coordination. Aerostrike® increases your metabolism, an important factor for anyone who wants to lose body fat. The average person can burn up to 700 calories in a class of Aerostrike®. |
Aerostrike® has had a positive impact on the lives of its participants. It places all its participants on an equal footing, which has made the program a very attractive option for women in general. Women are discovering more and more that it is empowering to express strength on a physical level. Aerostrike® is as great for your body as it is for your mental health. Physical strength leads to a healthy body and healthy mind, creating a confident and balanced state of being. The fundamentals behind Aerostrike® are to have fun and feel good as you perform the exercises. Aerostrike® helps you gain strength and confidence, while losing body fat and evenly toning up the body. |

| WHAT TO EXPECT FROM AN AEROSTRIKE® CLASS |
An
Aerostrike®
class commences with an upper body warm up, introducing a variety of strikes.
The cardio component combines the strikes with travel. The combat stage
introduces boxing movements.
Aerostrike® combines boxing elements with music, a great combination which is motivating, its moving and simple. Aerostrike® introduces kicking to the program. The routine works the kicks around 360¼, with forward, backward and side-kicks. Focus is placed on balancing the body, and working on increasing aerobic stamina. Concurrently patrons are toning up the legs, using hip flexes, the abdominals, and the glutious maximus (bottom). |

Balance is improved, a very important part in kicking as you stand on one leg while the other is executing the kick. The punching and kicking combinations are repeated several times. From the onset of the class patrons are strategically building up towards these combinations, simultaneously building up their strength, confidence, and ability to execute the strikes. The final stage in the Aerostrike® program is working on the abdominals and the cool down. High intensity stretching is carried out. Another very important component in theprogram is that flexibility is improved. The Aerostrike® program places great importance on safety. |

Choreography is kept simple allowing even first timers to fulfil all levels in theprogram successfully. The student is not overloaded with too much information whichultimately means movements are accomplished, making Aerostrike® lots of fun and safe. The structure of an Aerostrike® class encourages individuals to concentrate on technique. This allows regular patrons to use each class as a personal challenge, working towardsincreasing levels of skill, strength and speed. An added bonus - some Aerostrike® classes include a kickboxing circuit workout, which incorporates bag work, giving participants a taste of contact training. |
